Unapologetically distracting myself from memories of travel days of yore with some TV today. I've found some gems that don't make me feel like a TOTAL trash person. Here's what I'm digging on the apps! What are you guys watching and loving these days? Sending love to everyone flopped out watching TV today, give yourself a break, and truly flip the switch into enjoying yourself. Happy Saturday!!

NETFLIX

  1. Taco Chronicles: You think you love tacos now? Wait till you watch this beautifully made doc

  2. Tiny House Nation: Careful, You’re gonna wanna live in a tiny house after this!

  3. Homecoming: This is everything. A woman's deeply earned career defining offering as the first black woman (and one of only 4 women) to headline Coachella. Absolutely stunning production both on stage and with the footage as a film in itself.

  4. The Last Resort: Beautiful, heart breaking doc on Miami’s elderly Jewish population.

  5. Tidying Up: We’re all Spring cleaning, this Shinto based process adds depth, direction and intention to cleaning. Perfect activity for the kids!

  6. Documentary Now!: Hilarious documentary spoofs. Many of the original inspirations for these episodes are available to watch on Netflix!

  7. POSE: 10’s across the board! If you love drag, you’ll gag on this deep, fabulous and heartfelt origin story.

  8. Magical Andes: A stunning way to get taken away to a beautiful magical place.

  9. Searching for Sugarman: So crazy you can’t believe it type of doc! With incredible music to boot. This will refresh your music catalog and offer an album that begs to be listened to all the way through.

  10. Derry Girls: Everything you love about the 90’s through a VERY well acted and hilarious Irish lens.

  11. Crazy Ex Girlfriend: You must like impromptu singing numbers! If you do you’ll be privvy to one of the most refreshing and hilarious discussions around mental health.

  12. Queer Eye: So. Much. Hope for humanity coming from this show! Really respect that the new Fab 5 works in demographics that challenge their world views and identity.

  13. Please Bring Back: Big Dreams, Small Spaces and Love Your Garden! We need these high vibrations, interesting and inspiring British gardening shows now more than ever!

Hulu:

  1. Shrill: Hilarious, irreverent and addressing body love/shame in a way I’ve never seen before.

  2. Drunk History: The best part of this show isn’t the hilarious drunken re-telling of real history, it's the surprise in the stories themselves! Many are stories you never knew.

  3. Fuck That’s Delicious: The stoniest, munichest cooking travel show ever. Can’t help but fall in love with this multicultural mix of rappers, their self confidence and their adorable low key bromance. It gets gratuitous and less refined as the show closes on the final season but you get the sense they see that they saw that for themselves and wisely pulled the plug.

  4. Key and Peele: One of the best sketch comedy shows to date. Here come the laughs!

  5. Shark Tank: I love inventions and this show’s all about that! Sitting through deeply uncomfortable idea/invention pitches sucks but the  pay off in the good pitches is worth it!

  6. Dave: My partner picked this show based off of and played by real life rapper Lil’ Dickie. Who knew such real and deeply poignant themes could stand alongside twisted yet elevated (?!) bro humor. An episode in particular, based off of and played by Lil’Dickies real life hype man, Gata, blew me away both in how it addressed mental health in black men (Gata is bipolar irl)  and how incredible the acting was. Holy shit.

  7. Frasier: It’s a thing. The few but mighty Frasierheads get it!

Amazon:

  1. RuPauls Drag Race: Very inspiring, creative and HILARIOUS! RuPaul is very sage and exudes a confidence that’s infectious. Seasons 4, 5, and 6 are great starts!

  2. The New Yorker Presents: TOP notch series that no one seems to have heard of! 5-10 vignettes and seriously the most interesting topics and subjects in the world. Short films, short docs, cartoon work, hard to put in a box. It’s unreal, just gotta watch it!

  3. Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Feel good, great acting, drop dead gorgeous production and pretty damn funny. The show includes some realness in the moments it lightly addresses the social issues of that time (NYC in the 50’s).

  4. The King of Kong: A king kong documentary so bizarre that you swear it’s another hilarious spoof from Documentary Now! But it's REAL.

  5. The Outrageous Sophie Tucker: This isn’t necessarily a well made documentary but it's fascinating to get to know the most famous entertainers of the early 20th century that you’ve never heard of. She was a big, witty,  unconventional, sexual success story so of course, never made the history books.

  6. Caffeinated: As if I didn’t appreciate coffee enough, this documentary made me even more grateful.

  7. Ken Burns ‘The National Parks’: Stunning. Heartbreaking. Inspiring. Beautiful. A dreamy cool ass history class.

  8. Nacho Libre: As a lover of Mexico AND Jack Black it’s no wonder this gorgeously shot, heartwarming comedy is on my list. Fun for the whole family.

  9. Booksmart: Superbad for girls, REALLY cute (Jonah Hills sister actually co-stars! And Slays!)

  10. Fleabag: Beautifully heavy and gratuitously depressing. 5 stars.

Disney+:

  1. Heavyweights: My favorite childhood movie that still remains a favorite today. Ben Stillers best role and Judd Apatows best movie.

  2. Sister Act 2: The music is insane. The singing of young Lauren Hill and the finale still move me to tears every time.

  3. Honey I Shrunk The Kids: Get high first, so good.

  4. Coco: Best Pixar ever. Beautiful songs and bonding, warm message.

  5. Cesar Milan Dog Whisperer: Mesmerizing and unbelievable dog training with the most lovable high vibration trainer ever. He turns dog training into total energy work, most surprisingly, on the human owners more than the dogs!
