MSC/ MBSR/ MBCT: Magical Meditation Classes for anxiety, depression, PTSD and more!

I love a mindful mix of science & woo (it’s so adorable when science “catches up” to ancient/indigenous practices).

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) are courses that teach mindfulness as a way to explore & heal anything from stress and anxiety to the effects of chronic pain and PTSD.

The comprehensive curriculum intertwines research on mindfulness and a spirituality lightly rooted in Buddhist wisdom. In pre-covid days, classes were held weekly in person or over the course of a five day retreat. 

These days even though the classes are held live online they still offer community, instruction and solid accountability to establish or reset a meditation practice of your own. Google them in an area near you!

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC): Learn to befriend your self–critic, develop self-compassion skills, and foster goodwill towards yourselves and others. 

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR): Learn to develop a different relationship to stress resulting from chronic physical and psychological conditions.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): Learn skills and practices to manage depression, anxiety and prevent relapse. By learning to identify the triggers and symptoms of anxiety and depression, participants can effectively address these issues as they arise in everyday life.

I’ve taken classes with Mindfulness Northwest, University of Washington’s Center for Child & Family Well-Being and Canada’s Centre for Mindfulness Studies. Classes are offered worldwide from several sources!
